PERRYVILLE -- Herman J. Schumer, 82, of Perryville, died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 1996, at his home.
He was born July 8, 1914, in Perry County, son of Herman J. and Elona Moore Schumer. He and Minnie Huber were married July 11, 1939.
Schumer was a retired carpenter. He was a member of St. Vincent's Catholic Church and Carpenters Local 2030.
Survivors include his wife; five sons, Russell Schumer of Old Appleton, Roger Schumer of St. Louis, Allen and Stephen Schumer of Perryville, Gary Schumer of Orlando, Fla.; two daughters, Kathy McCune of Tulsa, Okla., and Mary Schafroth of Perryville.
He is also survived by five brothers, Alfred "Bud" Schumer of Goose Creek, Dennis, Edward and Lawrence Schumer, all of Perryville, Leonard Schumer of St. Marys; six sisters, Frances McCulogh of Fairview Heights, Ill., Mildred Koehler of Jackson, Zelma Huber, Evelyn Sauer and Leona Richardet, all of Perryville, Edna Biri of Farmington; 25 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and seven sisters.
Friends may call at Young and Sons Funeral Home from 4-9 p.m. today, and Friday from 6:30-9:45 a.m. The parish wake will be at 6 tonight.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Vincent's Catholic Church, with the Rev. George Billings officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
