BENTON -- Hermina Josephine Compas, 91, of Benton died Saturday, March 1, 1997, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Dec. 23, 1905, in Kelso, daughter of John and Bertha Bles Dumey. She had been a cashier at St. Francis Medical Center and a telephone operator in Benton.
She is survived by one son, Albert Compas of Kelso; one daughter, Laura Holt of Benton; five sisters, Arvella Steimle and Juanita Kern, both of Cape Girardeau, Erma Grojean of New Hamburg and Mary Paylor and Katherine Todt, both of Sikeston; 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, one daughter, three brothers and one sister.
A funeral Mass will be said at 10 a.m. today at St. Denis Catholic Church in Benton with the Rev. Norman Varone officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens in Morley. Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Benton is in charge of arrangements.
