ADVANCE, Mo. --uneral for Horace "Van" VanMatre of Advance will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Morgan Funeral Home. The Rev. Bill Sargent will officiate. Burial will be in Bollinger County Memorial Park in Marble Hill, Mo.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. today.

VanMatre, 75, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001, at his home.

He was born May 4, 1925, at Arab, Mo., son of Thomas A. and Rose E. Sanders VanMatre. He and Ella Mae Huffman were married Aug. 7, 1947, in Piggott, Ark. She died Jan. 8, 1992. He later married Norma McLeary at Arab.

VanMatre was a lineman with Union Electric in St. Louis 33 years. He was a member of Brush Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Horace Eddy VanMatre of Advance; two stepsons, Johnny McLeary of Zalma, Mo., Mike McLeary of Advance; two brothers, LeRoy VanMatre of Dexter, Mo., Bob VanMatre of Republic, Mo.; a sister, Helen Berrong of St. Peters, Mo.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter and two brothers.
