ORAN, Mo. -- Howard L. Stevens, 77, of Oran passed away Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, at Chaffee Nursing Center in Chaffee, Mo.
He was born July 27, 1935, in Scopus, Mo., to the late George Pinkney and Hester Zeda Welch Stevens. He and Yvonne M. Cook were married March 2, 1957. She preceded him in death May 27, 2009.
Howard was a supervisor at International Hat Factory in Oran until 1977, and then was chief of police for the city of Oran until retirement. He was a former member many years of Life Tabernacle Pentecostal Church in Oran, and current member of Greater Vision Pentecostal Church in Chaffee.
Survivors include three daughters, Linda (Roger) Morrett of Oran, Connie (Don) Biri of Cape Girardeau, Becky Stevens of Oran; a brother, Odell (Margie) Stevens of Marble Hill, Mo.; three sisters, Louise Ladd of Oran, Mary (Milford) Kirn of Jackson, Sherry Brown of Marble Hill; two grandsons, Michael Stevens of Oran, Brian Biri of Cape Girardeau; a great-granddaughter, Kaylee Biri of Jackson.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran after 4 p.m. Thursday.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Victory Life United Pentecostal Church in Oran. The Rev. Robert Poe will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Brian Flannigan. Burial will be in Friend Cemetery.
