Imogene Whorton, 87, of Delta passed away Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015, at Chaffee Nursing Center in Chaffee, Missouri. She was born July 30, 1928, near Oran, Missouri, to the late John and Ruth Moore Pippin. She married Harold Whorton on Aug. 25, 1948, and he preceded her in death Oct. 20, 1981...

Imogene Whorton, 87, of Delta passed away Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015, at Chaffee Nursing Center in Chaffee, Missouri.

She was born July 30, 1928, near Oran, Missouri, to the late John and Ruth Moore Pippin. She married Harold Whorton on Aug. 25, 1948, and he preceded her in death Oct. 20, 1981.

Imogene was a member of First Baptist Church in Delta. She was a cook at Woodard's Cafe in Delta for 12 years prior to retiring as a nurse's aide at Cape Girardeau Nursing Center in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include two sons, Larry (Jan) Whorton of Marion, Illinois, and Al (Sheryl) Whorton of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Glenn (Enid) Pippin of San Jose, California, and Donald (Emily) Pippin of Palm Bay, Florida; a grandson, Andrew Whorton of Marion; and two great-grandchildren, Brady and Jase Whorton.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

Visitation was held Monday afternoon at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, and a graveside service followed at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens in Morley, Missouri. Officiating was the Rev. Bob Lewis.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Chaffee Nutrition Center Meals on Wheels program.
