MALDEN -- Funeral service for Ira James Grubbs of Malden will be held at 2:30 p.m. today at Watkins and Sons Funeral Chapel in Dexter. The Rev. Vernon Reese will officiate, with burial in Parma Cemetery at Parma.

Friends may call at the funeral home from noon to service time.

Grubbs, 86, died Monday, Aug. 7, 1995, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Feb. 21, 1909, in Essex, son of Adam and Rosey Etta Miskell Grubbs. He and Bessie Mable Hicks were married Oct. 14, 1927. She died Feb. 18, 1978.

Grubbs was formerly of Parma. He attended Bernie General Baptist Church.

Survivors include nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
