TAMMS, Ill. -- James Edward "Jim" Bridges, 76, of rural Tamms, Ill., died Saturday, May 13, 2006, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Marion, Ill.
He was born Nov. 28, 1929, in Elco, Ill., son of Clarence Edward and Ruby Marie West Bridges. He and Mary Elizabeth McGuire Bridges were married and she preceded him in death. He and May Sherry Bridges were married and she preceded him in death.
Bridges was a member of the Elco Baptist Church. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, former member of the Alfton American Legion Post and was a retired Roadway truck driver.
Survivors include a son, Master Sgt. James Dean Bridges of Nowata, Okla.; a brother, Don Bridges of Olive Branch; and a granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Jones Funeral Home in Tamms.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Tom Bridges officiating. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery in rural Dongola, with full military honors.
