SIKESTON, Mo. -- Elvis James McGhee, 46, of Sikeston died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2003, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

He was born Oct. 4, 1956, in Sikeston, son of Hurley and Nelda McClaine McGhee. He and Barbara Overton were married Jan. 29, 1994.

McGhee worked at the city of Miner Street and Water Department. He was a member of Sandywood Baptist Church.

He served in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dustin McGhee of Dexter, Mo., Michael Tidwell of the home; two daughters, Belinda Hise Jr. and Ashley Wilbourn of the home; two brothers, Tommy McGhee of Gates, Tenn., Leon Holt of Brentwood, Calif.; four sisters, Mable St. Germain of Rhode Island, Betty Finley of Sikeston, Louise Glen of Sycamore, Ill., Patricia McGhee of Dothan, Ala.; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home. The Rev. Loyd Lathum will officiate. Burial will be in Old Bethel Cemetery with military honors.
