Mr. James Patrick "Pat" McCarty, age 71 passed away at his home Thursday, Nov. 25, 1999. Mr. McCarty was born July 20, 1928 in Marion, Ill., the son of the late LaFayette and Nettie Lucille (Rendelman) McCarty. He is survived by his wife, the former Donna (Dennis) McCarty whom he married Sept. 8, 1983...

Mr. James Patrick "Pat" McCarty, age 71 passed away at his home Thursday, Nov. 25, 1999.

Mr. McCarty was born July 20, 1928 in Marion, Ill., the son of the late LaFayette and Nettie Lucille (Rendelman) McCarty.

He is survived by his wife, the former Donna (Dennis) McCarty whom he married Sept. 8, 1983.

Also surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law; Danny (Jaun) McCarty of San Francisco, Calif., and Glenn (Therese) McCarty of Dothan, Ala., three daughters, Errin Armitage of Cape Girardeau, Patsy Watkins of Dothan, Ala., and Irene Williams of Decatur, Ala., four brothers and one sister-in-law, Dennis (Ida) McCarty of Oro Valley, Ariz., Danny McCarty of Oregon, Ill. and Martin and William McCarty of Marion, Ill., three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Elaine (Joe) Foster of Goreville, Ill., Katherine (Jim) Standefur of Springfield, Ill., and Mary Whittman of St. Louis, Mo., also several grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by a son, John Wayne and a brother, Leon.

Pat was a career enlisted man and served in the Army from January 1948 to January 1968. He served with distinction in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was honorably discharged and spent many years in Chicago before moving to Cape Girardeau in 1980.

Friends may call at the McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau beginning at 3:00 p.m., Monday, Dec. 6 with Memorial Services at 4:00 p.m. by the Rev. Larry Gray.

Expression of sympathy may be given in the form of donations to the American Lung Association.
