A memorial service for Jean Wahl West of Forest Grove, Ore., and formerly of Anna., Ill., will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Moriah Lutheran Church in Anna.

She died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 1998, in Forest Grove after an 18-year battle with Parkinson's disease.

She was born May 29, 1923, in Abilene, Kan., daughter of James F. and Francis E. Wahl. She married Don West on July 24, 1946, at Anna. He survives.

She grew up in Anna and graduated with a degree in music from Michigan State University. She taught school in Anna and Cobden and directed the choir at Mount Moriah Lutheran Church.

She later taught in North Plains, Ore. She participated in numerous research studies of new medical procedures for Parkinson's patients.

Also surviving are a son, Roger West of Tigard, Ore.; a daughter, Andrea George of Olympia, Wash.; a sister, Norma Armstrong of Jacksonville, Ill.; a brother, James Wahl of Pent Water, Mich; and two grandchildren.

Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna is in charge of arrangements.
