Shelbie Jean White, 85, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at Mercy Hospital Southeast.

She was born April 1, 1939, in Deering to Lewis Tucker and Frances Lanell Griggs Woodard. She and Darrell White were married Sept. 2, 1972, in St. Joseph, Michigan.

Jean and her husband moved to the Cape Girardeau area from Texas in 1994.

She worked as a surgery technician for a number of years.

She was a member of Apostolic Promise Church. Her church was a very big part of her life.

Survivors include her husband, Darrell White of Cape Girardeau; son, Allen Ray Holmes of Kentucky; four daughters, Pam Davis Adams of Cape Girardeau, Lisa (Pete Hendry) Kelly of Lake of the Ozarks, Deborah (Larry) Jacobs of Odessa, Texas, and Michelle (Patrick) Moore of Scott City; brother, Ronald (Glenda) Woodard of Sikeston; three sisters, Alice Garza of Corpus Christi, Texas, June (Charles) Kohler of Jackson and Renea (Chuck) Holt of St. Louis; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Carolyn Neese.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, June 7, at Apostolic Promise Church in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral will follow at 1 p.m. Friday, June 7, at the church, with the Rev. Timothy Lee officiating. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

Memorial contributions may be given to Apostolic Promise Church.

Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
