Jerry Lee Owens, 60, of Cape Girardeau passed away Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013, at Southeast Hospital. He was born Oct. 9, 1952, in Brownsville, Tenn., to J.B. and Ada Reed Owens. Jerry was a graduate of Haywood High School in Brownsville. He was licensed in culinary arts and worked as a cook in Chicago restaurants and also worked in utilities in Tennessee. He was a member of the House of Prayer World Outreach Center. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears, Cubs, Bulls and the Indianapolis Colts...

Jerry Lee Owens, 60, of Cape Girardeau passed away Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013, at Southeast Hospital.

He was born Oct. 9, 1952, in Brownsville, Tenn., to J.B. and Ada Reed Owens.

Jerry was a graduate of Haywood High School in Brownsville. He was licensed in culinary arts and worked as a cook in Chicago restaurants and also worked in utilities in Tennessee. He was a member of the House of Prayer World Outreach Center. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears, Cubs, Bulls and the Indianapolis Colts.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret A. Robertson Owens of Cape Girardeau; a son, Jerry (Natasha) Owens Jr. of Brownsville; three daughters, Meta Montel and Lovey Owens of Milwaukee and Nicole Armstrong of Indianapolis; a brother, Larry Owens of Miami; two sisters, Rose Holland and Dorothy Price of Indianapolis; 11 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Johnnie Owens; and a sister, Sofronia Owens.

Visitation will be from noon until time of service Saturday at St. James AME. Church.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Howard McGee and Joanne McCauley officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
