Jesse Winslow Williams of Cape Girardeau passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 1998 at St. Francis Medical Center. He was 83.

He was born July 17, 1915 at New Madrid, Mo., the son of James Winslow and Minnie Pearl (Wilson) Williams. He married Anna Anita Vaughn on July 25, 1936, at Madison, Ill.

He and his wife owned and operated the Sunset Motel in Cape Girardeau from 1958 to 1976. He was a member of Red Star Baptist Church, the Keystone Sunday School Class, and V.F.W. Post 3838 in Cape Girardeau. Mr. Williams was a member of the Regional Commerce and Growth Association and a former member of the Cape Girardeau Area Chamber of Commerce and the Exchange Club of Cape Girardeau for 30 years.

He as a World War II veteran serving in the U.S.Navy.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Anita Williams of Cape Girardeau; a son, Gregory Williams of Cape Girardeau and a grandson, Matthew Williams of Gainesville, Fla. Mr. Williams was preceded in death by one daughter, three brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Saturday, Oct. 31, 1998, at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel, the Rev. Don Stephens officiating. Burial will be at Yount Cemetery in Garwood, Mo.
