BERTRAND -- Funeral service for Joe B. Reed of Bertrand was held Wednesday at Shady Acres Church of Christ. Pat Hogan officiated, with burial in Mt. Zion Cemetery at Steele.

Nunnelee Funeral Chapel at Sikeston was in charge of arrangements.

Reed, 78, died Sunday, May 31, 1992, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

He was born July 17, 1913, in Cerro Gordo, Tenn., son of George E. and Pallia Snow Reed. He and Elsie Harbin were married Aug. 11, 1940. She died July 5, 1964. He later married Iona Lemmons June 12, 1966.

Reed had been a custodian at Sikeston Public Schools, TG&Y, Riggs Wholesale Supply Co., Sheehy's IGA and Sikeston Library. He was a member of Shady Acres Church.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Perry Lemmons of Willow Springs; five daughters, Joann Gregg of Bernie, Carol Evans of Sikeston, Pattie Allison of Arlington, Tenn., Betty Loeber of Memphis, Tenn., Sheryl Lemmons of Bertrand; 18 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
