Joey King, 64, of Jackson passed away Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2023, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

Joey was born Feb. 1, 1959, in Cape Girardeau, to Bobby Joe and Earlene White King. He and Mary Pat Seabaugh were married Oct. 27, 1978, in Jackson.

Joey was a 1977 graduate of Jackson High School. He had 30 years of experience working as a mechanic at Bob's Tire Repair and the City of Jackson. In 1995, Joey bridged into firefighting and EMT training. Some of his life-saving certifications included firefighting, extrication, hazardous materials and firefighting equipment management and operation. From 1995 to 1999, he was an emergency medical technician for Cape County Private Ambulance and North Scott County Ambulance, during which time, he also taught safety classes for various organizations. Joey was also self-employed in auto and small-engine repair, and also worked for Sander Hardware and Siemers Best Brands. Most recently, he was employed at Discover Life Church (formerly Cape First Church) in Cape Girardeau, also the church of his longtime membership.

Joey leaves a legacy of music, humor, loyalty and love for God and his family.

Joey is dearly cherished and missed by his loving wife of 44 years, Mary Pat King; five children, Adriane (Alex) Lacey, Dayna (Josh) Havemann, Derek (Elysia) King, Bobby (Jessica) King and Kellie (Russell) Sinclair; grandchildren, Erin Lacey (Isaiah Douglas), Jack Lacey, Eleanor Havemann, Ezra King, Everett King, Adeline King, Desmond King, Aiden King and Eevie Sinclair; great-grandson, Leo Douglas; parents, Bobby Joe and Earlene King; two siblings, Greg (Penny) King and Kristi King; father-in-law, Jerry (the late Phyllis) Seabaugh; several in-laws; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Phyllis Seabaugh.

A memorial visitation will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 3, in the chapel at Discover Life Church (the former Cape First Church) in Cape Girardeau.

The memorial service will follow the visitation at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 3, at the church, with Pastor Gary Brothers and Pastor Chad Fisher officiating. Inurnment is private at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Restore the Wonder, a ministry to foster care children, www.restorethewonder.org/donate.

Joey's family has entrusted McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson with his final arrangements.
