John R. Langford, 61, of Jackson died Monday, April 21, 2014, at his home. He was born Dec. 13, 1952, son of Robert and Nell Coker Langford. John was a member of Pipefitters Local 562 and was an avid outdoorsman. John R. Langford, 61, of Jackson died Monday, April 21, 2014, at his home.

He was born Dec. 13, 1952, son of Robert and Nell Coker Langford.

John was a member of Pipefitters Local 562 and was an avid outdoorsman. He volunteered for the Jackson Optimist Club and American Legion Post 158 in Jackson, and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include a son, Shaun Langford of O'Fallon, Mo.; a daughter, Sherry (Dane) Lorenz; parents, Robert and Nell Langford; a brother, Ray (Donna) Langford; a sister, Doris (Alan) Moore, all of Jackson; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Visitation will be from 4:30 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Luther Rhodes officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Shriners Hospitals for Children, Jackson Optimist Club or American Legion Post 158 in Jackson.
