John Wilson McKinley of Dexter, 86, died Wednesday, March 16, 2005, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. John Wilson McKinley of Dexter, 86, died Wednesday, March 16, 2005, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born June 16, 1918, near Painton, Mo., son of Harry and Ada Dixon McKinley.

Mr. McKinley was a former employee of Brown Sand and Gravel at Dexter, Mo. He was a member of First Church of God in Dexter.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Eva McKinley of the home; a daughter, Tracy Harty of St. Louis; two stepsons, Ray Clark and wife Carol of Warrenton, Mo., Gary Clark and wife Lora of Qulin, Mo.; two sisters, Faye Looney of Yellville, Ark., Jessie Cato of Zalma, Mo.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred; four brothers, Charles, Thomas, Doyle and Carl McKinley; and two sisters, Mildred Willis and Bess McFerron.

The funeral was held March 18 at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. Following cremation interment will be in Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.
