EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. -- John Russell Sater, 70, of East Prairie died Tuesday, July 31, 2001, at Missouri Delta Medical Center emergency room of an apparent heart attack.
Born Oct. 10, 1920, in Chaffee, Mo., he was the son of John P. and Ruby Goolsby Sater.
A retired truck driver, he had lived in East Prairie most of his life. A veteran of the U.S. Army, Sater served during the Korean War.
On Dec. 31, 1962, he was married to Mary Dale Cobb Sater, who survives.
Other survivors include a son, Mike Sater of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Kim Rodell of Hazelwood, Mo., and Amy Sater of Cape Girardeau; three brothers, James H. Sater of St. Charles, Mo., Richard Sater of Pacific, Mo., and R. Eugene Sater, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sisters Evelyn Diebold of Scott City, Mo., and Jane O. Sater of Cairo, Ill.; and four grandchildren.
Sater was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Martin Lucas officiating. Burial will follow at the Dogwood Cemetery, with military services provided by the Brown-Twitty Post of New Madrid, Mo.
