Joseph LeRoy "Joe" Bertling, 66, of Mooresville, N.C., died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 1997, at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center in Mooresville.
He was born April 21, 1931, in Cape Girardeau, son of Walter and Arnetta Oberbeck Bertling. He and Carmen Quamme were married Sept. 1, 1956.
Bertling was a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University. He worked 35 years in the Charlotte, N.C. real estate industry, retiring as vice president of sales of Squires Homes Inc.
He was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Mooresville. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Steve Bertling of Greenville, S.C., Scott Bertling of Mooresville; a daughter, Sabrina Bertling of Conover, N.C.; two brothers, Albert Bertling of Jackson, George Bertling of Sycamore, Ill.; a sister, Betty Morris of Memphis, Tenn.; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and two sisters.
Friends may call at Cavin Funeral Home in Mooresville from 7-8:30 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Mark Church in Mooresville, with the Rev. Johnny C. Cozart officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Memorial Park in Mooresville.
