Joseph Leslee Myers Jr., 82, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Jan. 14, 2016, at The Lutheran Home.

He was born Dec. 15, 1933, in Randles to Joseph L. and Lorene Menz Myers Sr. He married Mary Ann Phelps in 1953; she passed away in 1983. He married Agnes L. Kiefer on April 7, 1978, at Jackson.

Mr. Myers was former owner and operator of Myers Plumbing and Heating in Cape Girardeau. He later worked for Sanders True Value Hardware in Cape Girardeau.

He was a member of Red Star Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau and was an auxiliary member of the Ten Point Club in Marble Hill, Missouri.

Survivors include his wife, Agnes L. Myers of Cape Girardeau; a son, Darryl R. Myers of Chaffee, Missouri; a daughter, Karen R. Duffield of Limestone, Illinois; two stepdaughters, Debbie Lipsey of Old Appleton, Missouri, and Carla Whetsel of Montgomery, Alabama; a stepson, Martin P. Whiteside of Sedgewickville, Missouri; three sisters, Martha Peters of Marble Hill, Missouri, Joan Hargate of Kankakee, Illinois, and Vickie Slinkard of Burfordville; five brothers, Julious "Bud" Myers of Cape Girardeau, Cline Myers of Oak Ridge, Steve Myers of Patton, Missouri, Stanley Myers of Old Appleton and James Rick Myers of McClure, Illinois; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchild; nine stepgrandchildren; and 10 great-stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, two brothers and a sister.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating. Burial will be at Kenyon Cemetery in Delta.

Memorial contributions may be given to the family toward funeral expenses.
