CHARLESTON -- Joseph Vinson, 75, of Charleston died Monday, Nov. 23, 1998, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
He was born July 17, 1923, in Clinton, Ky., son of Vester and Maggie Green Vinson. He married Joan Angle June 21, 1982. She survives.
He had been a resident of Mississippi County most of his life. He was a member of First General Baptist Church in Charleston. He was a mechanic until his retirement in 1962. He was a veteran of World War II in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include three sons, Garry Vinson of Champaign, Ill., Rusty Vinson of Bloomington, Ill., and Danny Vinson of Centerville, Ohio; two daughters, Ginger Gammons of rural Bertrand and Angela Vinson of Dubuque, Iowa; four stepsons, William Stephens Jr., Mark Stephens, Jimmy Stephens and Darrin Wayne Stephens, all of Collinsville, Ill.; a stepdaughter, Rhonda Futtrell of Collinsville; two brothers, Sylvester Vinson of Sikeston and Roy Green of Wyatt; three sisters, Dorothy Edmonds of St. Louis, Louise Roberts of Gainesville and Delores Summers of Wyatt; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren and a step-great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a son, brother and sister.
Friends may call after 9:30 a.m. today at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston until funeral hour of 1 p.m. The Rev. Bill Meeks will officiate.
Interment will follow in the IOOF Cemetery.
