CARBONDALE, Ill. -- James Monroe "Josh" Dickey, 82, of Carbondale died Wednesday, Sept. 2, 1998, at his home.
He was born June 7, 1916, in Franklin, Ky., son of Daniel D. and Lillian Barnes Dickey. He married Florence Welsz, who died July 5, 1968. He later married Vera Seufert, who died in 1989.
Dickey was employed by the railroad 50 years and had been vice president of ESCO in St. Louis.
He was a member of Eagles 2569, Elks 1243, Shekinah 241 in Carbondale, Shriners in East St. Louis and Scottish Rite in Belleville.
Survivors include a son, Thomas Dickey of St. Louis; three daughters, Linda Alberson of Cape Girardeau, Marsha Paholsky of Lawrence, Kan., Ruth Bukovac of Kansas City; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Walker Funeral Home in Carbondale. The Rev. Richard Paddon will officiate.
