Juanita Irene Summers, 93, of Jackson passed away Friday, Aug. 16, 2019, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, where she had been a resident for 25 years.

She was born Oct. 24, 1925, in Sedgewickville, Missouri, daughter of Joseph A. and Carrie E. James Statler. She and Boyd Summers Jr. were married July 7, 1950, in Chaffee, Missouri.

Juanita was a 1944 graduate of Chaffee High School. She worked at the International and Florsheim Shoe factories in Chaffee and Cape Girardeau.

Juanita was a former member of United Methodist Church in Chaffee for 55 years and was a 25-year member of New McKendree United Methodist Church in Jackson.

In addition to her loving husband of 69 years, Boyd Summers Jr., survivors include two children, Carolyn Sue (Jim) Franke of Hillsboro, Ohio, and David Boyd (Patricia) Summers of Cape Girardeau; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren

She was preceded in death by a sister and four brothers.

The visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jimmie Corbin officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

The family suggests contributions be made to the Jackson Senior Center or New McKendree United Methodist Church.
