Juliana Lisa Pagel, 40, of Jackson passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

She was born Dec. 21, 1968, in Fort Ord, Calif., daughter of Travis Odell and Alice Marie Clough Smith. She and Michael Pagel were married May 1, 2000, at Trail of Tears State Park in Cape Girardeau County.

Juliana and her family moved to Jackson in 1999 from Brunswick, Ga. She worked at Jackson Wal-Mart from 2000 until her health failed in 2006. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Fruitland.

She enjoyed volunteering at Jackson Primary Annex and Jackson Orchard Elementary School.

Loving survivors include her husband, Mike, of Jackson; three sons, Matthew Pagel of Oklahoma, Christopher and Cameron of Jackson; a daughter, Chandra Smith of Jackson; her parents of Pacific Grove, Calif.; three brothers, John and Joe Smith of Pacific Grove, Jeff Smith of Fresno, Calif.; a sister, Genevieve Henry of Portland, Ore.; a half sister, Theresa, and a half brother, Eddy of Illinois.

Friends may call from noon to service time Friday at Wesley United Methodist Church in Fruitland.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. Barry Winders officiating.

McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church Scholarship Fund.
