GORDONVILLE -- Landon Fredric Mier, 84, of Gordonville died Monday, Dec. 22, 1997, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born July 11, 1913, at Oran, son of Frank Karl and Bertha Montgomery Mier. He and Jewell Sheets were married March 21, 1933, at Benton.

Mier farmed most of his life. He also had been a painter, and a custodian at Louis J. Schultz School, retiring in 1976. He lived in Cape Girardeau, then in Anna, Ill., and had lived at Gordonville since 1993. He was a member of Gospel Assembly Church in Jonesboro, Ill.

Survivors include his wife; five sons, Bennie Mier of Alton, Ill., Larry Mier of Advance, Michael Mier of Houston, Texas, Jimmy Mier of Gordonville, Frank Mier of San Carlos, Calif.; a brother, Frank Mier of Woodward, Ore.; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 5-9 p.m. Friday.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. Bon Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in Friend Cemetery at Oran.
