Laura Louise "Larry" Bohnsack, 85, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2005, at Chateau Girardeau Health Center. She was born Oct. 18, 1920, in Poplar Bluff, Mo., daughter of George W. and Florence Freeman Ward. She and Carlston "C.A." Bohnsack were married July 6, 1942, in Poplar Bluff. Laura Louise "Larry" Bohnsack, 85, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2005, at Chateau Girardeau Health Center.

She was born Oct. 18, 1920, in Poplar Bluff, Mo., daughter of George W. and Florence Freeman Ward. She and Carlston "C.A." Bohnsack were married July 6, 1942, in Poplar Bluff. He died Sept. 13, 2005.

Mrs. Bohnsack was a kindergarten teacher at Trinity Lutheran School before becoming a music teacher in the Cape Girardeau School District.

She was active in the Otahki Girl Scout Council, serving as a leader for several Scout troops and coordinating music activities for the council. Mrs. Bohnsack was an avid gardener. She served as chairperson for the restoration and maintenance of May Greene Garden and served on committees to beautify the Water Street floodwall and rose test garden.

Mrs. Bohnsack taught private piano lessons, was active in the Community Concert Association, and served as choir director and organist at St. Andrew Lutheran Church where she was a charter member. She was an outdoorswoman and loved to fish and play tennis.

Survivors include a son, Bob Bohnsack and wife Linda of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Susan Cole and husband Carl Sitze of Jefferson City, Mo.; two grandsons, Mason Cole and wife Lana of Portland, Ore., Morry Cole and wife Elizabeth of St. Louis; two granddaughters, Myka Bohnsack and Lainie Bohnsack of Cape Girardeau; two great-grandchildren, Harrison and Delaney Cole of Portland, Ore.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and a brother, Joe W. Ward.

Private burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.

A memorial service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Chapel, with the Rev. Barry Pfanstiel officiating. The family will receive guests following the service.

The family requests memorials be given to Southeast Missouri Hospital Foundation or Chateau Girardeau Foundation.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
