BENTON, Mo. -- Lawrence W. "Bobo" Ervin, 74, of Benton died Monday, Dec. 5, 2016, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Jan. 23, 1942, in Morley, Missouri, to H. Wilburn and M. Marie Ervin.
He had worked on the railroad and for Knight Oil Equipment and then owned and operated Ervin Oil Equipment from 1975 to 1985. He retired in 2008 from Thompson Culvert Co. in Sikeston, Missouri.
Bobo enjoyed farming -- especially raising cows -- gardening, hunting, camping and fishing. He had been a mechanic all his life.
Survivors include a son, Terry (Marisela) Ervin of Benton; five brothers, Louie (Janet) Ervin of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, John Ervin of Bloomfield, Missouri, and James (Katrina) Ervin, Loyd (Jayne) Ervin and Joe (Fay) Ervin, all of Cape Girardeau; three sisters, Irene Spinner of Cape Girardeau, Lorene Burford of Scott City and Loretta (Paul) Brown of Fruitland; grandchildren, Terry Lee Jr., Joshua, Madison and Kristen; and a great-grandchild, Markann.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Larry Wayne Ervin; and a sister, Janetta Sachse.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Daniel Stevens officiating.
Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
Pallbearers will be Louie Ervin, James Ervin, Loyd Ervin, Terry Lee Ervin, Patrick Kerperien and Chuck Cagle.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be given to the Pat Burford Cancer Fund or the Linda Beard Rehabilitation Fund.
