OLD APPLETON -- Graveside service for Leemon Boyd Abbott of Old Appleton will be held at 11 a.m. today at Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau. The Rev. Mark Anderson will officiate.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau is in charge of arrangements.

Abbott, 84, died Monday, Aug. 25, 1997, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born July 16, 1913, at Burfordville, son of Charles W. and Sarah E. Phelps Abbott. He and Marie Katherine Simpson were married March 3, 1945, in Piggott, Ark. She died July 26, 1995.

Abbott had worked at General Motors in St. Louis. He was a member of United Auto Workers Local 25.

Survivors include a son, Boyd Abbott of Morrison, Tenn.; two brothers, Loren Abbott of Jackson, Lloyd Abbott of Marble Hill; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
