MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Lela L. Upchurch, 90, of Marble Hill passed away Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010, at her residence.
She was born Jan. 31, 1920, in Bollinger County, daughter of Leo L. and Lillie Pierce Bollinger. She and Milford Cleo Upchurch were married Dec. 21, 1939.
Lela worked as a teacher for four years, a teacher's aid at the state school in Lutesville, Mo., for more than 20 years, at a shoe factory and attended the Mount Zion Baptist Church for more than 60 years.
Survivors include her husband, Milford; two sons, Milford E. Upchurch of Enumclaw, Wash., Jerry Upchurch of Millersville; a brother, Clifford Bollinger of Cape Girardeau; three sisters, Eula Bridges and Leola Lincoln, both of Marble Hill, Helen Martinson of Granada Hills, Calif.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a great-grandson.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Micah Bristow officiating.
Burial will be in Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery near Marble Hill.
