SIKESTON -- Lena LaVerne Hill, 89, of Sacramento, Calif., formerly of Sikeston, died Saturday, Dec. 26, 1992, at Walnut Whitney Convalescent Hospital in Carmichael, Calif. She was born Oct. 10, 1903, in Vienna, Ill., daughter of William and Bessie Hensley Godwin. She married Marvin Hill, who died May 19, 1974...

SIKESTON -- Lena LaVerne Hill, 89, of Sacramento, Calif., formerly of Sikeston, died Saturday, Dec. 26, 1992, at Walnut Whitney Convalescent Hospital in Carmichael, Calif.

She was born Oct. 10, 1903, in Vienna, Ill., daughter of William and Bessie Hensley Godwin. She married Marvin Hill, who died May 19, 1974.

Survivors include three sons, John Hill of Madison, Tenn., Charles Hill of Edwards, Calif., Bill Hill of Sikeston; two daughters, Betty Roth and Bessie McElyea of Sacramento; a brother, John Godwin of Moline, Ill.; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son and brother.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today.
