CHARLESTON -- Leonia Massey, 77, of Charleston, died Sunday, Nov. 22, 1998, at the home of her daughter in St. Louis. She was born May 18, 1921, in Forrest City, Ark., daughter of Joe and Mary Pierson Brown and had lived in Missouri since 1932. She married Anderson "Mack" Massey June 21, 1936. He died in 1982...

CHARLESTON -- Leonia Massey, 77, of Charleston, died Sunday, Nov. 22, 1998, at the home of her daughter in St. Louis.

She was born May 18, 1921, in Forrest City, Ark., daughter of Joe and Mary Pierson Brown and had lived in Missouri since 1932.

She married Anderson "Mack" Massey June 21, 1936. He died in 1982.

She was a member of the Mount Hope Baptist Church of Deventer, where she was church secretary and president of the usher board.

Survivors include a daughter, Earlean Townsend of St. Louis; a brother, Richard Bell of Ocala, Fla.; two sisters, Ruby McKinney of Detroit and Erma Robinson of Charleston; a granddaughter; and a great-grandson.

Friends may call between 7 and 8 p.m. Thursday at Sparks Funeral Home in Charleston.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. William Watson officiating.

Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Charleston.
