MOUNDS, Ill. -- Levi Wade "Bear" Bagby, 17, of Mounds died Sunday in an apartment fire in Clinton, Ky.

He was born March 5, 1987, in Carbondale, Ill., son of Albert C. "Duke" and Vickie Higgins Bagby III.

Bagby was a sophomore at Meridian High School.

Survivors include his mother, Vickie Higgins of Mounds; his father and stepmother, Albert and Jackie Bagby of Metropolis, Ill.; four brothers, Shane and Clay Bagby of Mounds, Chris Bagby of Brookport, Ill., Derek Bagby of Metropolis; two sisters, Amanda and Rebecca Bagby of Metropolis; two stepsisters, Brittany and Heather Jones of Wickliffe, Ky.

Also surviving are maternal grandparents, Charlotte Dunning of Marion, Ill., Ray and Valerie Higgins of Cunningham, Ky.; paternal grandparents, Albert and Lillian Bagby Jr. of Mounds; maternal great-grandmothers, Faye Dismore of Bardwell, Ky., and Beulah DeLashmutt of Olive Branch, Ill.

Friends may call at Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge, Ill., from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and from 8 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the funeral home.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Paul McDaniel officiating. Burial will be in Cache Chapel Cemetery east of Ullin, Ill.
