PATTON, Mo. -- Lloyd Harris Koonce, 78, of Patton died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Dec. 2, 1922, at Monette, Ark., son of R.C. and Pearl White Koonce. He and Mary Dickinson were married Aug. 6, 1948.

Koonce had been a foreman at McDonnell-Douglas in St. Louis. He was a member of Little Whitewater Baptist Church.

He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded a Silver Service Star and a Good Conduct Medal American Theater Ribbon.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Alice Breidengam of Cahokia, Ill., Janet Hale of Patton; two brothers, Ralph Koonce of West Plains, Mo., Ronnie Koonce of Pekin, Ill.; four sisters, Norma Steele of Marissa, Ill., Bonnie Bowman of Freeburg, Ill., Laura Graham of Colorado Springs, Colo., Geraldine Smith of Wild Rose, Wis.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, and a brother.

Friends may call at Liley Funeral Home in Patton from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. The Revs. Randy Miller and Cy Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Pulliam Cemetery near Marble Hill, Mo.
