Lois Lea Edwards, 76, of Jackson, joined her heavenly Father on Sunday, May 21, 2006. She passed away at Southeast Missouri Hospital. She resided at the Monticello House the past four years. She was born Sept. 5, 1929, in St. Louis, daughter of Troy and Myrtle Wade Hobeck. She and Billie F. Edwards were married July 30, 1949, in Pickett, Ark. He passed away Oct. 20, 1997...

Lois Lea Edwards, 76, of Jackson, joined her heavenly Father on Sunday, May 21, 2006. She passed away at Southeast Missouri Hospital. She resided at the Monticello House the past four years.

She was born Sept. 5, 1929, in St. Louis, daughter of Troy and Myrtle Wade Hobeck. She and Billie F. Edwards were married July 30, 1949, in Pickett, Ark. He passed away Oct. 20, 1997.

The Edwards family first lived in Cape Girardeau. They moved to Jackson in 1963, where Lois worked at the former International Shoe Factory several years. She then devoted her work to caring for the elderly in their homes and her home.

She was a member of Shawnee Hills Baptist Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Elks Auxiliary, all in Jackson.

Loving survivors include two sons, John (Charlotte) Edwards of Cape Girardeau, Billie (Pat) Edwards of Chester, Ill.; two daughters, Cheryl (Rick) Cook of Marble Hill, Mo., Carol (Steve) Borgfield of Jackson; two brothers, Carl Hobeck of Chester, Larry Hobeck of Sparta; and three sisters, Jackie Roberts of Cape Girardeau, Anna Dean Turnbough of Jackson, Delores Norman of the state of Florida.

Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Nathan and Jonathan Edwards, Amy Hess, Amanda Edwards, Lottie, Kyle, and Tyler Cook, Sara and Ashley Borgfield; and three great-grandchildren, Alex Moore, Chance Brooks and Hunter Borgfield.

In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by an infant son, two brothers, and one sister.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Don Estes officiating. Entombment will follow in Memorial Park Mausoleum in Cape Girardeau.

Memorials may be made to the American Legion Auxiliary in Jackson or the Jackson Elks Auxiliary.
