LOLA I. HOWTON

BERTRAND -- Lola Irine "Chic" Howton, 80, of Bertrand, died Wednesday, March 2, 1994, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Dec. 22, 1912, at Marquand, daughter of Nicholas and Hula Mills Slinkard. She and William A. Howton were married April 7, 1935. He died April 19, 1965.

She had lived in Mississippi County more than 58 years and was a member of Cornerstone General Baptist Church here.

Survivors include a son, Billy Howton of Wyoming, Del.; a daughter, Wanda Northern of Bertrand; two brothers, Hayne and Tommy Slinkard of Fredericktown; two sisters, Ola Parson of Modesto, Calif., Elaine Kuer of St. Louis; eight grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son and three brothers.

Friends may call at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston after 5 p.m. Saturday.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The Revs. Lee Fansler and Dariel Hodge will officiate, with burial in Union Light Cemetery at Fredericktown.
