Lorene S. Jacob, 81, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, March 1, 1998, at Fountainbleau Lodge.

She was born Aug. 29, 1916, at Whitewater, daughter of Shelby and Cora Mae Spradling Strong. She and Dr. R.D. Jacob Jr. were married in February 1942. He died April 25, 1950.

She received her registered nurse's certification from Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis and was a nurse for many years at both Southeast Missouri Hospital and St. Francis Medical Center. She retired in 1976.

She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was also very active in the Otahki Girl Scouts for many years.

Survivors include a son, Dr. R. Daniel Jacob of Metarie, La.; two daughters, Judith Mezera of Dallas, Texas, and Susan Rizzotti of Tulsa, Okla.; a sister, Lucille Trickey of Cape Girardeau; and nine grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Clayton Smith will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery.
