Mary Elizabeth "Louella" Rhodes Nothdurft of Cape Girardeau passed away Saturday, June 29, 2024.
She was born near Whitewater Jan. 9, 1926, the daughter of Charles P. and Etta Leora Mollenhour Rhodes. Louella and Richard "Gene" Nothdurft were married Aug. 28, 1947, in Cape Girardeau. He passed away Feb. 20, 2008.
Louella graduated from Stroderville Grade School and was valedictorian of Delta High School Class of 1944. She attended Southeast Missouri Teachers College and taught school at Whitewater and Crump. She also worked for Southeast Missouri Telephone Co.
Survivors include three daughters, Beverly Wiedefeld (Lance Eaker) of Jackson and Dixie (Randy) Davie and Patti (Ronnie) Eftink of Gordonville; eight grandchildren, Heather (Casey) Smith, Whitney (Todd) Conklin, Erin (Jason) Stallings, Rodney (Sandy) Eftink, Laura (Andy) Higgerson, Katy (Matt) Bollinger, Ryan Davie and Sara (Brandon) Bradshaw; 15 great-grandchildren, Isabelle and Tyson (Landrie Cole) Smith, Morgan, Meredith and Miley Conklin, Andrew and Susan Eftink, Regan and Ross Davie, Hadley Bradshaw, Shelby and Rylee Bollinger, Wesley and Ginny Higgerson and Landrie Stallings; two great-stepgrandchildren, Justin (Kayla) LeGrand and Ashlee (Ethan) Cochran; four great-great-stepgrandchildren, Mason and Carson LeGrand and Waylen and Abbie Cochran; and many nieces and nephews.
Louella was preceded in death by her husband; parents; granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann Eftink; four brothers, Paul, Lenard, Harold and Willard Rhodes; six sisters, infant Helen, Lucille Kidd, Virginia Flowers, Dorothy Goodman, Laverne Langston and Marie Withers.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
Funeral will follow at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, at the funeral home with the Rev. Sam Roethemeyer officiating. Burial will be at Stroderville Cemetery near Whitewater. Pallbearers will be Rodney Eftink, Ryan Davie, Brandon Bradshaw, Matt Bollinger, Casey Smith, Todd Conklin, Jason Stallings and Andy Higgerson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Stroderville Cemetery Perpetual Care, 2044 County Road 389, Whitewater, MO 63785 or a charity of choice.
