SIKESTON - Funeral services will be held Monday for Loyd C. Newman, formerly of Canalou and Oran. He died Friday afternoon, Jan. 11, 1991, at the Sells Rest Home in Matthews. He was 76.
He was born June 26, 1914, in Canalou, son of the late Mode and Mary Landers Newman. He was a self-employed farmer.
On Feb. 11, 1933, he married Elsie Marie Evans in Lilbourn. She preceded him in death on Dec. 21, 1980.
Survivors include four brothers, Phillip Newman of Morehouse, Lois Newman of Sikeston, Clifford Newman of Tamms, Ill., and Billy Newman of Puxico; and two sisters, Judy Lasters of Grand River, Ky., and Betty Scott of Gary, Ind. He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Friends may call after 5 p.m today at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Sikeston, where services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Milton Poole of the First Assembly of God Church in Sikeston will officiate.
Burial will be at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
