SCOTT CITY -- Funeral service for Lucille Ward of Scott City will be held at 2 p.m. today at Landess Funeral Chapel in Malden, with the Rev. Gene Lancaster officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery at Malden.
Ward, 91, died Thursday, Feb. 23, 1995, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born July 22, 1903, in Blytheville, Ark., daughter of John Washington and Jennie V. Coulter Starnes. She married Lawrence Ray Ward Dec. 23, 1922, in Blytheville. He died Oct. 14, 1974.
Ward was a member of Kimball Baptist Church in Malden.
Survivors include three sons, Aubrey Ward of Risco, Lawrence Jr. and Marshall Ward of Scott City; three daughters, Mildred Gregg of Livonia, Mich., Nadine Rudkin of Scott City, Marjorie Brewsaugh of Odenton, Md.; a brother, Talmage Starnes of Marion, Ark.; three sisters, Laverne Forshee and Vera Coleman of Blytheville, Hazel Hall of Memphis, Tenn.; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Starnes; two sisters, Elvie Fulgham and Berniece Gurin.
