Lynn Robert Gentry, 87 of Scott City died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018, at his home.

He was born Feb. 23, 1931, in Sikeston, Missouri, to Glen H. and Pearl Collins Gentry. He married Norma Lee Russom on Nov. 13, 1955. She preceded him in death June 14, 2007.

Lynn was a riverboat pilot and was a member of the Cape Girardeau Elks and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3838 in Cape Girardeau. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean conflict.

He is survived by three sons, Jeff (Margaret) Gentry of Gordonville, Keith (Teresa) Gentry of Scott City and Kevin (Pamela) Gentry of Lakeland, Florida; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Jason) Miranda, Michael Gentry, Christopher Gentry, Robert ( Morgan) Gentry, Ryan Gentry and Rachele Gentry; four great-grandchildren, Brieyana, Carlee, Alana and Colton; five brothers, Mike and Dick Gentry of Cape Girardeau and Stan, Steve and Danny Gentry of Scott City; a sister, Connie Scales of Houston; and a sister-in-law, Patsy Gentry of St. Clair, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; two brothers, Bill and Roger Gentry; and a sister, Betty McKinley.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the chapel, with the Rev. Randy Morse officiating. Burial will at Lightner Cemetery in Scott City, with full military honors.

Memorial donations may be made to Crown Hospice.
