Margaret Lee Giles, 80, died Friday, Jan. 21, 1994 at the Lutheran Home where she had resided for three years.
She was born Aug. 5, 1913 in Benton, Ill., the daughter of Orlie H. and Lora M. Hartin Bain.
On Aug. 19, 1936 she married Richard H. Giles in Mt. Vernon, Ind. He died on March 21, 1992.
She was a lifelong member of the 1st Christian Church, where she was a former deacon, was president of the Christian Women's Fellowship, and served as chairman of various committees including the dinner, communion and quilting committees. She also served as circle leader many times.
She was a member of the Thomas Sanford Chapter of the Daughters of the American Colonists and of the Nancy Hunter Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, serving as regent.
She was a charter member of the Psi Psi Psi Alpha Omega Chapter, where she served as the chapter's first president.
Survivors include: three sons, Richard B. Giles, David B. Giles, and Thomas A. Giles, all of Cape Girardeau; one daughter, Virginia Lee Lakemeyer of Chesterfield; one brother, Eugene H. Bain of Marion, Ill.; one sister, Virginia B. Dixon of Benton, Ill.; and nine grandchildren and one great grandson.
Visitation will be today from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel.
Revs. Leigh and Mary E. Earley will officiate at a private grave side service later today at Memorial Park Cemetery.
