PUXICO, Mo. -- Maria Elena Smith, 59, of Puxico died Monday, Jan. 25, 2016, at Puxico Nursing and Rehab in Puxico.

She was born Dec. 14, 1956, in Benton, Illinois, to Randall Madison and Ida Santina Tedeschi Mosley. She and Steven P. Smith were married Jan. 25, 1997, at Cape Girardeau.

Maria had been a cook for Chateau Girardeau for over 22 years.

She is survived by her husband, Steven of Puxico; a son, Jason (Misty) Smith of Advance, Missouri; a daughter, Jamie Smith of De Soto, Missouri; her parents of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Madison Mosley of Cape Girardeau and Joseph (Amanda) Mosley of Scott City; a sister, Tedra (Thomas) Gee of Paris, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Alexander and Kaydence Smith, Jayda Kirkpattrick and Gavin Renado.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Wounded Warrior Project.
