ADVANCE -- Marie Allen, 94, of Advance died Thursday, Aug. 21, 1997, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She was born July 8, 1903, in Advance, daughter of Charles Edgar and Mary LeTempt Rainey. She and Varn Denton Allen were married Dec. 20, 1924, at Bloomfield. He died July 6, 1969...

ADVANCE -- Marie Allen, 94, of Advance died Thursday, Aug. 21, 1997, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born July 8, 1903, in Advance, daughter of Charles Edgar and Mary LeTempt Rainey. She and Varn Denton Allen were married Dec. 20, 1924, at Bloomfield. He died July 6, 1969.

Allen attended First Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Charles Allen of Benton, Ky.; two brothers, Ted and Bill Rainey of Advance; two sisters, Betty Huff of Marble Hill, Francis Sobba of Auxvasse; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.

Friends may call at Morgan Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dale Huff officiating. Burial will be in Morgan Memorial Park.
