SIKESTON -- Marie Penrose, 80, of Cedar Hill, formerly of Morehouse, died Friday, July 7, 1995, at Cedars Health Care Center in Cedar Hill.
She was born Nov. 22, 1914, in Star City, Ark., daughter of James Luther and Dora Kate Bradley McCarty.
She married Virgil Paul Penrose Sr. on Oct. 15, 1928. He preceded her in death on Oct. 18, 1966.
She was a member of the First General Baptist Church at Morehouse.
Survivors include sons, James W. Penrose of Cedar Hill and Russell B. Penrose of Mapaville; daughters, Deloris Faye Hoffman of Walnut Ridge, Ark., Tammy Lynn Surface of Sikeston and Hilda Marie Gadis of Arnold; 21 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, a daughter, three brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the Nunnelee Funeral Home in Sikeston.
Service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston, with the Rev. J. D. McClard of Morehouse officiating, assisted by the Rev. Herman McNew of Cape Girardeau. Burial will be in Friend Cemetery at Oran.
