Marjorie Ann Gregory, 73, passed away Wednesday Nov. 15, 2006, in Excelsior Springs, Mo.
Gregory will be cremated. The family will hold memorial services at noon Saturday at the VFW Hall in Cape Girardeau.
Marjorie was born on Feb. 4, 1933, in Corning, Ark., the daughter of Williams Thomas and Mabel Yevaugh (Bird) Fisher. In 1950 she married Lt. Col. Robert Raymond Gregory, who went missing in action in 1966 and was later declared deceased.
She was a member of the Eastern Star in Enid, Okla., and was a member of the "Old" Bell City Baptist Church. She also made honorable mention for her time given to the women's group in the First Presbyterian Church in Advance, Mo.
Marjorie enjoyed cooking (mostly for large groups) and worked as a cook for Labor Union Luncheons. She was known as the best gourmet cook in southern Missouri. She served as counselor to Vietnam veterans' wives who had lost their spouses, as she had, in the war. Those who knew Marjorie knew that she must have been "Mr. Clean's" wife. In the late '70s she called herself Lady Cherokee. She was small but mighty and will be missed by many good friends and loved ones.
