Col. Marvin Lloyd Ruehling of Perryville, Missouri, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family Dec. 2, 2016, at the age of 74.

Marvin was born July 5, 1942 in Cape Girardeau, to Leo and Nora (Bodenschatz) Ruehling. He and Jane Bacon were married Aug. 6, 1966. She survives in Perryville.

Marvin had been partner owner/operator and auctioneer for Ruehling Auction Services.

He was the building-trades instructor for four years at Perry County District 32. He then became adult education supervisor, career center director and finally principal of Perryville High School. He retired in 1999 after 33 years in education.

He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Immanuel Lutheran School Board, Workforce Investment Board, Perryville Planning & Zoning, and River Hills Tractor Club.

Other survivors include daughter Karen (William) Krieger, son Daryl (Chasity) Ruehling and seven grandchildren all of Perryville; two sisters-in-law, Vickie (Keith) Dreyer and Katherine Bacon; one brother-in-law, Jack (Carolyn) Bacon; one niece and four nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Larry.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 6:30 to 8:15 a.m. Wednesday at Young and Sons Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Grace Lutheran Church in Uniontown, Missouri, with the Revs. Paul Winningham and Matthew Marks co-officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the charity of your choice.

Young and Sons Funeral Home, Inc. in Perryville, provided the arrangements.
