Mary C. Amos, 98, 539 Albert, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 1994, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

She was born Sept. 27, 1895, in Cane Creek, daughter of Fritz A. and Louise Metje Meier. She and Martin Amos were married Oct. 7, 1917, at Tilsit. He died in 1956.

Amos was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ and its Mary Martha Circle.

Survivors include two daughters, Irene Amos of Cape Girardeau, Mildred Hoxie of St. Louis; a brother, Lawrence Meier of Jackson; three sisters, Minnie Groenemann and Frieda Goddard of St. Louis, Anita Garrison of Steelville; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel. The Rev. Ernest Jordan will officiate, with burial in St. James United Church of Christ Cemetery at Tilsit.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today.
