Mary Edith Schlue DeGuire, 88, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2005, at Southeast Missouri Hospital, with God and her family by her side.
She was born Nov. 9, 1917, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Harry and Elizabeth Bowman Schlue. She and Wesley W. DeGuire were married Oct. 3, 1953, in Cape Girardeau. He passed away May 22, 1986.
Mrs. DeGuire was a graduate of Central High School and lifetime resident of Cape Girardeau. She was employed at Buckner-Ragsdale several years as a buyer for the ladies and children's departments.
She is survived by two daughters, Ruth "Marqui" Goff of Carbondale, Ill., Jean V. Hampton of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Virginia "Dolly" Schlue and Barbara J. Schlue of Cape Girardeau; two granddaughters, Christina M. Heifner of Carterville, Ill., Mary E. Hampton of St. Louis; two great-grandchildren, Nicholas G. and Devin M. Heifner; several nieces and nephews she considered her own.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers and five sisters.
The funeral will be private with the eulogy given by a nephew, John M. Gilbert. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will include Kendel Heifner, Tye DeCramer, Ty Metzger and Heath Darrow.
Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
