COBDEN, Ill. -- Mary Jo Downs, 67, of Cobden died Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2001, at her home.

She was born Aug. 21, 1933, in Mounds, Ill., daughter of Louis and Lena Story Scales. She married Kenneth Downs.

Downs retired as a registered nurse at Choate Mental Health Center.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Joe Miller; a daughter, Patricia Sigler; two stepdaughters, Kendra McNally, Cathy Wilson; a brother, William Scales; and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.

Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna, Ill., after 6 p.m. Friday, and Saturday until time of service.

Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The Rev. Clifford Heil will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery at Makanda, Ill.
