SEDGEWICKVILLE -- Mary M. Barks, 71, of Sedgewickville, died Monday, Jan. 3, 1994, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

She was born Nov. 14, 1922, in Sedgewickville, daughter of Andrew and Artie Yount Seabaugh. She and Roy Barks were married June 1, 1951.

Barks was a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University. She began teaching in 1941, having taught at Tiptop in Sedgewickville, at Patton, and retired from Meadow Heights in 1977.

She was a member of National Teachers Association, lifelong member of Sargent's Chapel Lutheran Church where she was organist, Sunday School teacher and treasurer; member of Critesville Extension Club, and was secretary for Neighborhood Watch.

She is survived by her husband.

Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at McCombs Funeral Chapel in Jackson. The Rev. Mary Waudby will officiate, with burial in Sargent's Chapel Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today.
